Antique & Contemporary Sculpture Repair

Every sculpture presents its own challenges. Antique works may require special attention to aged surfaces, original patinas, previous repairs, or historically significant details, while contemporary sculptures may incorporate different fabrication techniques, finishes, and materials.

Kalispell Art Foundry evaluates each sculpture individually to determine an appropriate repair or restoration approach. Whenever possible, our goal is to preserve the character of the original sculpture while making repairs as unobtrusive as possible.

Bronze Repair

Bronze sculptures can be damaged by accidents, transportation, vandalism, improper installation, environmental exposure, or simply years of use. Our craftsmen can repair broken, cracked, bent, missing, or damaged bronze components using techniques appropriate to the original construction of the sculpture.

Repairs may include bronze welding, fabrication of replacement components, metal chasing, structural reinforcement, surface reconstruction, and refinishing. Our goal is to integrate repaired areas naturally with the surrounding sculpture.

Patina Restoration & Refinishing

Over time, a bronze sculpture's patina can fade, discolor, stain, or become damaged from weather, handling, cleaning products, or environmental conditions. Kalispell Art Foundry provides patina restoration, color matching, repatination, cleaning, and protective finishing for both antique and contemporary bronze artwork.

Our patina artists carefully evaluate the existing surface and work to retain the character of the sculpture while restoring an appropriate and cohesive finish.

Missing or Damaged Parts

When part of a sculpture has been lost or damaged beyond repair, our sculptors and craftsmen can recreate missing elements using photographs, reference material, surviving components, or matching elements elsewhere on the sculpture.

When appropriate, 3D scanning, digital modeling, and 3D printing can also be incorporated into the restoration process to reproduce complex forms or assist in creating replacement components for casting in bronze.

Monument & Outdoor Sculpture Restoration

Outdoor sculptures and monuments face continual exposure to weather, moisture, pollutants, and changing temperatures. We provide restoration services for private collectors, galleries, municipalities, institutions, memorials, and public art installations.

Every restoration begins with an evaluation of the artwork. Send us photographs, approximate dimensions, information about the sculpture and its age if known, and a description of the damage. Our team can then begin determining the most appropriate restoration approach.

For larger, antique, or particularly complex pieces, additional inspection may be necessary before a restoration plan and estimate can be prepared.
