From an Idea to Sculpture

A sculpture does not have to begin with a finished model. Some of the best projects begin with nothing more than an idea. Bring us what you have, and we can work with you to develop the concept, proportions, composition, and details needed to turn that idea into a finished work of art.

We can work from sketches, photographs, historical references, existing artwork, small maquettes, rough clay sculptures, 3D files, or a combination of reference materials.

Traditional & Digital Sculpting

Depending on the project, our artists can use traditional sculpting techniques, digital sculpting, or a combination of both.

Traditional clay sculpting allows the artist to develop form, anatomy, expression, movement, and surface texture by hand. Digital sculpting provides additional possibilities for creating, modifying, scaling, mirroring, and refining complex designs before they are produced as physical models.

By combining traditional craftsmanship with modern 3D scanning, digital sculpting, and 3D printing technology, we can select the process that best fits each individual project.

Small Sculptures to Monuments

Our custom sculpting capabilities range from miniatures and awards to tabletop sculpture, life-size figures, wildlife, memorials, public art, and monumental installations. A design can also be developed at a smaller scale and enlarged to its final dimensions using digital technology.

Complete In-House Production

As a full-service fine art bronze foundry, Kalispell Art Foundry can take your project beyond the sculpting stage. Once the sculpture is approved, our team can continue through mold making, wax production, ceramic shell, bronze casting, metal chasing, welding, assembly, patina, and finishing.

Keeping the sculpting and bronze production process together allows our artists and foundry craftsmen to collaborate throughout the project—from the first idea to the finished bronze.
